Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales at the stunning Tithe Barn in Bolton Abbey, this winter wedding was a celebration of bold elegance and atmospheric romance. The theme? Monochrome—with layers of black accents, soft dried florals, and candlelight woven throughout to create a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic.

As a wedding stylist, working in a venue like The Tithe Barn famed for its rustic beams and moody charmis an absolute dream. It offered the perfect blank canvas for a dramatic, editorial look that still felt intimate and inviting.

A Ceremony Framed in Light & Texture
Guests entered a beautifully styled candlelit aisle filled with glass hurricane vases of floating candles and pillar candles in black lanterns, creating a glowing, romantic walkway. At the altar, a three-piece black metal frame stood tall, draped in flowing black fabric, anchored by large dried pampas floral arrangements and a personalised neon sign—the perfect modern-meets-boho ceremony backdrop.

Dramatic Tablescapes with Monochrome Elegance
For the wedding breakfast, we styled the tables to echo the dramatic tone of the ceremony. Each table featured:

Black napkins carefully folded for a minimalist look

Personalised wax seal menus, stamped with the couple’s monogram and tied with hand-dyed black chiffon ribbon

The standout feature of the table styling was the elaborate pampas grass flower balls, perched on top of tall black metal stands. These striking centrepieces drew the eye upwards to the barn’s beautiful high ceilings, making the most of the venue’s incredible architecture and adding vertical drama to the tablescape.

To keep the theme cohesive, we used black acrylic signage throughout—from welcome signs to bar menus and table plans. These modern touches elevated the styling while keeping everything visually consistent.

As the day turned to night, the couple introduced a fun, party-perfect sequin wall backdrop near the dancefloor—covered in black sequins and surrounded by balloons, dried florals, disco balls, neon lights, and playful tassels. It created the perfect space for guests to capture those Insta-worthy moments, while doubling as a statement cake display backdrop.
